No question of showing leniency to those involved Gopalganj’s violence: Home Advisor

Those who committed violence in connection with the NCP rally in Gopalganj will be arrested,and no leniency will be given in this regard, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The Home Affairs Advisor made this comment in response to a question while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday.

When asked whether the intelligence agencies had any information about the Gopalganj incident, the Home Affairs Advisor said, "The intelligence agencies had information, but it was not in such a large amount."

NCP leaders also complained that the law enforcement agencies were unable to control the situation. Regarding this, he said, "You can also say a lot. Everyone will give their own statement."

He also said that those who committed wrongdoings in Gopalganj will be arrested and There is no question of giving leniency in this regard.

Earlier, four people were killed in a series of attacks and clashes surrounding a Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) rally in Gopalganj on Wednesday (July 16). More than a hundred people, including journalists, were injured in the attacks by leaders and activists of the Awami League and the banned Chhatra League.
