The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Flight Lieutenant Md. Toukir Islam tried his best to take the crashed plane from a densely populated area to a sparsely populated area to avoid major damage. This was stated in a statement by the ISPR on Monday afternoon.

The ISPR statement said the Bangladesh Air Force's FT-7 BGI fighter aircraft encountered a mechanical fault after taking off from the AK Khandaker Air Force Base in Kurmitola at 1:06 PM on Monday as part of regular training (details will be informed subject to investigation).

To deal with the accident and avoid major damage, the pilot of the plane, Flight Lieutenant Md. Toukir Islam, tried his best to take the plane from a densely populated area to a sparsely populated area. But unfortunately, the plane crashed into a two-story building of Milestone School and College in Diabari of Dhaka in an unexpected accident. In this sudden accident, 19 people including the pilot were killed and 164 were injured.

The ISPR release also said a high-level investigation committee of the Air Force has already been formed to find out the cause of the accident.
