In the case of garment worker Minarul Islam’s murder during the anti-discrimination student movement in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor and Narayanganj District Awami League vice-president Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy has filed a bail petition through her legal team.
The petition was submitted to the Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge’s Court on Tuesday (May 27) afternoon. Judge Abu Shamim Azad has set June 2 as the date for the bail hearing.
Earlier, on May 25, the Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Court granted a two-day remand for Dr. Ivy. On the same day, the court ordered the submission of the remand report by June 1 after seven working days.
During the bail hearing, state counsel and acting public prosecutor Omar Faruk Noyon informed the court that the remand report has not yet been submitted. After hearing from both parties, the court scheduled June 2 for the bail hearing.
Advocate Awlad Hossain, representing Awami League leader Ivy, said, “We have filed the bail application. The court has fixed June 2 for the bail hearing pending the remand report.”
