After a meeting with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said they have mainly sought a clear roadmap on two issues from the Chief Advisor.
The Jamaat Ameer told this to the reporters in front of the Chief Advisor's official residence Jamuna at 9:30 pm on Saturday.
He said, “We have said that two issues need to be clarified. Firstly, when will the election be held? The election should be held at a comfortable time without causing any major suffering to the people within the time frame you have given. Secondly, we have said that before this election, some visible process of reforms and justice must come before the people.
The Jamaat Ameer said, “If an election is held without completing the reforms, the people will not be able to fulfill their expectations in this election. Moreover, it is not possible to do all the reforms now. They have only touched on 5 specific issues. This much needs to be settled satisfactorily.”
He told the reporters, "You must be aware that some unusual conditions have been prevailing in Bangladesh for the past few days. In continuation of that, a meeting of the advisory council was held the day before yesterday, that is, on Thursday. The chief advisor did not speak about that (resignation) from that meeting. But this word spread very quickly throughout the society, due to which there was uncertainty, fear, and panic in the society. We have taken into account the issues of that day. At the same time, a political leader took a stand on one demand regarding his public representation. Again, another party took a stand on another demand in an important place. All these were a bit painful, a bit annoying for the chief advisor, due to which he expressed an expression that he would reconsider his responsibilities. But in practice, this did not come to the fore officially.”
The Jamaat Ameer said, “You were also upset like us on these issues, because the country belongs to all of us. If the country remains good, we will all be fine.”
Regarding the existing political situation, a delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by its Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, entered the State Guest House Jamuna at 8 pm on Saturday for the meeting with the chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The other member of the delegation is Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
