
The country's total foreign exchange reserve has decreased to $25.44 billion.
Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan revealed the information on Monday.
According to the latest data from the central bank, as of May 19, the gross reserve stood at $25,444.43 million. On the other hand, according to the IMF’s Balance of Payments Manual (BPM6) method, the reserve now amounts to $20,070.59 million.
Earlier, as of May 7 this month, the country’s gross reserve was $25,677.29 million, while under the IMF’s BPM6 calculation, it stood at $20,291.21 million.
It is mentionable that the net reserve is calculated using the IMF’s BPM6 methodology. The net or actual reserve amount is determined by subtracting short-term liabilities from the gross reserve.
