People apprehensive about the elections: Fakhrul

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “There will be differences in politics, it is normal. But in the current environment, people are getting confused. People are apprehensive about the elections.”

He said this while attending a publication event at the National Press Club on Friday morning.

Mirza Fakhrul commented that there is an opportunity to move towards the desired state system only through free, fair and impartial elections.

He said, “BNP was the first to talk about reforms. Ziaur Rahman brought multi-party democracy and freedom of the media. Khaleda Zia brought parliamentary democracy. Many are trying to say that BNP is against reforms. But all the reforms were done by the BNP.”

Fakhrul, alleging that some political parties want to defame him by spreading false propaganda, said, "Someone can call BNP bad, but no one should be given the opportunity to do so."

Noting that people are looking forward to change, he said, "BNP has to bring change to the people."
