
Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk1,365 to Tk1,67,098 per bhori (11.664 grams) within a day of dropping the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Saturday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk14,326 per gram, and 21-carat Tk13,675 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk11,721 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk9,686 per gram.
New prices will come into effect on Sunday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk241 per gram, 21-carat Tk230, 18-carat Tk197, and traditional one is Tk148 per gram.
