Three people were killed and another was injured as a speeding private car overturned at the Sholo Ghor passenger shed area on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj’s Srinagar on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:00 am.
Sources said two people died on the spot. Two injured were rescued and taken to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where doctors declared one more dead. The condition of the remaining injured is critical.
Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Srinagar Fire Service station officer Dewan Azad said the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound private car from Mawa overturned on the expressway.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for about an hour. Later, highway police and fire service personnel conducted a rescue operation, after which traffic movement returned to normal.
Fire service and highway police initially suspect that the accident occurred either due to overspeeding and loss of control or after being hit by an unidentified vehicle.
