‘Local govt bodies involved in Sada Pathor looting’

Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has alleged that officials of local government bodies were involved in the large-scale looting of white stones from Sylhet’s Sada Pathor area.

She made the accusation on Sunday while responding to questions from reporters at the Secretariat. Rizwana Hasan said action will be taken against the administration over the issue, and a decision in this regard will be announced soon.

On the election issue, the Environment Adviser reiterated the Chief Adviser’s statement, saying, “The EC has been asked to prepare accordingly, and it is doing so. The Chief Adviser’s statement on the elections reflects the position of the interim government.”

When asked about varying statements from political parties following the announcement of the election date, she said, “So far, the EC has been instructed to prepare for elections in February, and the elections will be held in February. Political parties may have their own calculations and politics, but that does not mean the government has shifted its stance.”

Regarding reports of the President’s photo being removed from embassies, Rizwana Hasan said there was no written instruction for such an action. “There has been no discussion or decision in the Advisory Council on this matter. However, this issue has nothing to do with the elections,” she added.
