At least 30 people, including some who were struck with spears, were injured in a series of clashes between villagers in Araihazar, Narayanganj, over the attempted occupation of a house. The clashes took place on Wednesday (20 August) from afternoon until evening at Uchipura Bazar in the upazila.
According to eyewitnesses and locals, on Monday (18 August), some people from Mordasadi village under Mahmudpur Union tried to seize the house of Bosor Mia from neighboring Gohordi village. When resisted by the opposing side, the group attempting the occupation retreated. A local arbitration was held on Tuesday (19 August), but the matter remained unresolved.
As a result, on Wednesday afternoon, villagers from Mordasadi and Gohordi, armed with sticks and traditional weapons, clashed at Uchipura Bazar in Uchipura Union. Both sides engaged in attacks, counterattacks, and repeated chases, and the fighting continued until evening.
During the clashes, a man named Alamgir was pierced with a spear, and at least 30 others from both sides were injured. Among them, four sustained serious injuries—Alamgir (60) from Gohordi village, and Sadek Ali (30), Sadikul (16), and Abir (15) from Mordasadi village. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Araihazar Upazila Health Complex.
The on-duty doctor provided primary treatment but referred Alamgir and Sadek Ali to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced care.
The names of several injured individuals have been identified: Alamgir Mia, Sadek Ali, Sadikul, Abir, Milon, Kaiyum, Jahirul, Monir, Selim, and Ismail Hossain. Among them, Alamgir Mia and Sadek Ali were reported to be in critical condition and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to local sources.
