
A Dhaka court on Tuesday imposed a travel ban on Meghna Group Chairman Mostafa Kamal.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The commission’s Deputy Director (Public Relations) Akhtarul Islam disclosed the information to media today.
ACC Deputy Director Md Monirul Islam made the plea with the court, seeking a travel ban on the industrialist.
According to the plea, “a seven-member investigation team has been formed to investigate allegations of embezzlement of CSR funds of various banks by Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Trustee, Center for Research and Information (CRI) and other members of Sheikh Hasina's family by cooperating in implementing a political agenda against Shuchona Foundation Chairman Saima Wazed Putul and others.”
“According to reliable sources, Mustafa Kamal, the accused in this incident, may flee the country with his family. The person mentioned in the complaint is currently absconding. If he leaves the country, there is a possibility that the investigation into the complaint will be disrupted. In the interest of a fair investigation into the complaint, his travel abroad must be canceled,” the petition continued.
