National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has said that it is not just the fall of Sheikh Hasina, a change of power, or a change of party that is needed, but a transformation of the country’s entire political system and the corrupt mafia-driven structure.
“Over the past year, we have not seen any real change in this system,” he said.
He made these remarks during a street rally following a march at Shaheed Dr Abul Kashem Ground in Joypurhat town on Saturday afternoon.
Nahid said, “What the country needs right now is justice and reform. Democracy must be forwarded through justice and reform.”
NCP’s Northern Region Chief Coordinator Sarjis Alam said, “We are conducting this July march with three goals in mind—justice, reform, and state-building.”
Party’s Southern Region Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah said, “Those who oppose July and stand against the revolutionaries are the very ones trying to rehabilitate the Awami League.”
NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Zara, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, and various district and sub-district leaders were present at the Joypurhat march program.
