People want change: Nahid Islam

The convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Nahid Islam, has said that ordinary people now want change. He remarked, “If no change comes after the uprising, people will once again take to the streets. And this time, if they do, no one will be forgiven.”

He made these comments on Thursday afternoon while speaking to journalists after paying respects at the grave of Shaheed Sajjad Hossain in Saidpur, Nilphamari.

Nahid Islam also expressed deep concern over repeated attacks on the NCP office.

He said, “These attacks have been carried out centering around the July march. Online, Awami terrorists have become more aggressive—they are still lurking within the country. Those who want to obstruct reform are the ones attacking the NCP.”

Nahid claimed that many are trying to preserve the old politics.

He said, “Even though leadership has changed, the arrangements have not. Some people want to come into power while preserving the old structure. These are the same people trying to delay the reform process.”

To mark the anniversary of the July mass uprising, the NCP is marching across the country. On Thursday, NCP leaders were present in the Nilphamari district.
