BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas has said that conspiracies are being hatched against the party at home and abroad.
Mirza Abbas made the remarks while addressing the condolence meeting of late BNP leader Abdullah Al Noman at a convention center in Chattogram city on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting, chaired by BNP Chairperson's advisor Golam Akbar Khondakar, was attended by the party's Chattogram Divisional organizing secretary Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Chattogram City Corporation mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, BNP's Central Information and Research affairs assistant secretary Quader Gani Chowdhury, Executive Committee member Babu Sushil Barua, and former general secretary of Chattogram City BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar as special guests.
The event was moderated by North District BNP leaders Nurul Amin, and Nur Mohammad and advocate Abu Taher, late BNP leader Abdullah Al Noman's son Sayeed Al Noman, former South District BNP convener Abu Sufian, former North District joint convener MA Halim, among others, also spoke.
Referring to the recently concluded DUCSU elections, Mirza Abbas said, "You can say that BNP lost this election. I cannot say where Jamaat-e-Islami got so many votes in Dhaka University. But, my calculations do not match, brother! I do not want to say that Jamaat rigged. I want to say that there is a deep conspiracy in the country."
Stating that lessons should be learned from the DUCSU elections, the BNP leader said, "Two things happened in the DUCSU elections: Election engineering like in 2008, and the votes of the Chhatra League."
Mirza Abbas said, "BNP is the only party in Bangladesh in whose hands the country's independence and sovereignty are safe, people's lives and property are safe. You may say that after August 5, BNP people are committing a lot of atrocities, etc. This is not correct. Awami League is committing misdeeds in collusion with BNP. Awami League is also committing misdeeds in collusion with Jamaat. However, all the blame falls on BNP. Our leader Tarique Rahman has clearly said that there will be no place for terrorists, extortionists, or usurpers in BNP. If such allegation comes against anyone, strict action will be taken.”
