No Party symbol in Local Government Elections: LGRD Adviser

Adviser to the LGRD and Sports Ministries Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has said that there will be no party symbol in the local government elections.

An amendment to the relevant law was approved at a meeting of the Advisory Council.

He shared the information through a post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday.

In his post, he wrote, “There will be no party symbol in the local government elections.”

Today, the Advisory Council meeting approved four amendments to the relevant laws, as proposed by the Local Government Department.

Later, in another Facebook post, the LGRD Adviser confirmed that party symbols will not be used in elections to city corporations, municipalities, upazila parishads, and union parishads.
