Confirming the matter, Narayanganj court police inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan said the verdict was delivered in a murder case filed with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station in 2021, with five of the accused present in court and one absent.
The plaintiff, Mukta Begum, said, “I had two daughters and one son. My son used to study at a madrasa. To support our family financially, I put my only son Zubair to work at a roadside shoe shop. That son was brutally murdered — stabbed in the stomach, his wrist cut off, and beaten with an iron rod. I am satisfied with the court’s verdict.”
Additional Public Prosecutor Mashuda Begum Shampa said, “This was a much-discussed murder case. On October 14, 2021, hawker Zubair was stabbed to death in front of the Balaka petrol pump on Bangabandhu Road in Narayanganj city over a dispute related to setting up a roadside shop. Following the incident, Zubair’s mother Mukta filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station, naming eight people. The court has now announced the verdict in that case.”
