Effort on to prevent new entry of Rohingyas: Khalilur Rahman

National Security Advisor and Chief Advisor's High Representative on Rohingya Affairs Dr. Khalilur Rahman said we are trying to prevent newly entrance of Rohingyas into the country and we have conveyed this very strongly to the Arakan Army.

“We have informed them through the United Nations that we want to see Rohingyas represented at all levels of the new administration being formed in Arakan. If they do not do that, then it is a sign of ethnic cleansing which is in no way acceptable. If they do not do this, then it is difficult to continue talking to them,” he said.

He said this while talking to the journalists at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

Will contact with the Arakan Army damage relations with Myanmar? Responding to this question, Khalilur Rahman said, “We are a sovereign state, and we will contact whoever we want in our interests. We have independently formulated our foreign policy. We have also implemented it. Myanmar has identified the Arakan Army as a terrorist organization. They are also talking to them. The Arakan Army is now controlling our border on the other side. We have to manage this border and keep it peaceful.”

“For this, we will keep in touch with whoever is on the other side. If the Tatmadaw (Myanmar army) can come on the other side, we will also contact them.”

Has security been increased on the Indian border? In response to this question, the National Security Advisor said, “We will do whatever needs to be done to protect the border. There is a tense situation between India and Pakistan, but we have no tension with India. We will not do anything extra. I do not see any reason for that.”
