Fascism rises due to absence of an elected government: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that fascism is once again on the rise in the country due to the absence of an elected government.

“An elected government is now essential to resist the fascist Awami League,” he said.

He made these remarks during a workers' rally organized by the Barisal District and City Sramik Dal in front of the Mahatma Ashwini Kumar Hall on Barishal Sadar Road on Thursday morning.

Sramik Dal, the labor wing of the BNP, organised the rally marking Great May Day.

Rizvi said that the most important task now is to swiftly bring Sheikh Hasina to justice. Otherwise, fascism may rise again in the country. For this reason, everyone must unite and fight for a fair election to resist fascism.

The senior leader of the party further said that instead of making lame excuses, the interim government should immediately hold an acceptable election and hand over power to an elected government.
