BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will return to Bangladesh on May 5 by a special air ambulance sent by the Qatar Amir, the party’s secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said on Saturday.
Mirza Fakhrul shared this information at a press conference.
He said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will return to Dhaka on Monday on a special flight—Qatar's royal air ambulance—accompanied by her two daughters-in-law.
“Everyone is emotional and excited. Everyone is prepared to welcome the BNP Chairperson,” he said.
To manage the arrival and reception, Mirza Fakhrul urged the general public to avoid the road from the airport to Kakoli and instead use the Elevated Expressway.
Fakhrul further explained that Begum Khaleda Zia had been receiving treatment at a hospital in the United Kingdom for four months. After that, she continued her treatment under the supervision of doctors at Tarique Rahman's residence. Her condition has improved daily.
The senior BNP leader added that a better environment, being with family, and undergoing various tests contributed to the improvement in her health. Begum Khaleda Zia is now feeling considerably better, that is why she has decided to return to the country.
BNP Chairperson’s Media Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan also confirmed the matter.
Earlier, it was decided that the BNP chief would return home by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
