Ashuganj rice Mokam fails to collect paddy in pick season

Ashuganj in Brahmanbaria is the country's largest rice market. Farmers bring their produced paddy from vast areas of Sunamganj, Kishoreganj, Sylhet, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria to Ashuganj.

Every year at this time, rice traders and buyers are busy with the arrival of this big rice. Even this year, traders are not buying paddy when new paddy starts coming in the market. Because traders have enough paddy stock in godowns. Due to this, the traders who bring rice are not getting fair price. Rice traders have to sell rice at low prices.

Even during the 12th National Assembly election season, the Ashuganj rice market is in crisis, and the rice market is also stagnant. Abu Hanif came to Ashuganj Mokam of Brahmanbaria with about 600 maunds of new paddy from Sunamganj's Dirai to sell the paddy at a fair price. But the price at which the paddy is bought from the farmer, is being bought and sold at Mokam about 100 taka less than that. As a result, Hanif is afraid of a large amount of loss.
