Court orders to seize ex-minister Asaduzzaman Noor’s flats, land

A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the seizure of four flats and 10 kathas of land owned by former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court also ordered the freezing of 16 bank accounts in his name.

On 30 July, the ACC filed a case against Noor, accusing him of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk5.37 crore and laundering over Tk158.78 crore.

According to the case statement, Asaduzzaman Noor amassed wealth worth Tk5.37 crore from undisclosed sources by abusing his power.

Additionally, suspicious transactions amounting to Tk158.78 crore were carried out through 19 bank and financial institution accounts in his name.

Earlier, the former minister was arrested from his residence on Bailey Road in Dhaka on 15 September last year and has been in custody since then.
