The British prime minister Keir Starmer has spoken out in favour of the US’s military action against Iran, saying the attacks “alleviate” the “threat” posed by Tehran’s nuclear programme, reports Al Jazeera.
“Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon,” he said in a post on X.
“The situation in the Middle East remains volatile and stability in the region is a priority. We call on Iran to return to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis,” he added.
For its part, Iran has vehemently denied developing a nuclear weapon and says its atomic programme is for peaceful purposes. The UN’s atomic agency also says it has found no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon.
