’Deep conspiracy’ going on over elections, be vigilant: Fakhrul

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the country's teaching community to be vigilant, stating that a 'deep conspiracy' is going on to conduct the national elections in a different sector.

On Tuesday afternoon, at a gathering of teachers held in Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, he said, "I want to tell you that you have a big role to play in the upcoming elections, you will fulfill your responsibilities in every place. Today, a deep conspiracy has started to take the elections in different path. You should keep a vigilant eye on it so that no one can take it (the election) in different path."

Mirza Fakhrul said, "Our goal is one: we want to build the happy and prosperous Bangladesh dreamed of by martyred President Ziaur Rahman. We are the dream of our leader... Our path is one: that is Bangladesh."

On the occasion of International Teachers' Day, the BNP-backed Teachers' and Employees' Unity Alliance organized a grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, highlighting various demands. Their demands include a non-discriminatory education system, setting the retirement age at 65, including non-MPO educational institutions as MPOs, and nationalizing the jobs of teachers and employees.

Claiming that all the demands of the teachers have been included in the BNP's 31-point program, party secretary general Fakhrul said, "As a nation, we have a demand from you, and that demand is that you develop your students, our children, in such a way that they can truly be ideal citizens and live in morality. Together, we can build a modern education system."

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the rally virtually from London.
