430 BGB platoons providing security at 2,857 puja mandaps

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed 430 platoons across the country, including border areas and the capital Dhaka, to ensure overall security at 2,857 Durga Puja mandaps ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja 2025, the largest religious festival of the Sanatan (Hindu) community.

To maintain law and order during the festival, BGB has set up 24 base camps across the country, including in border areas.

The force is working to ensure peace and security throughout the celebrations.

According to BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam,out of the total 2,857 Puja mandaps under BGB’s security, 1,411 are located in border areas (within 8 kilometers of the border and including 15 mandaps in the hill tracts), while 1,446 are outside the border areas.

Among the outdoor puja mandapas, there are a total of 441 in the capital city, Narayanganj and Gazipur City Corporations areas, 694 in Chittagong Metropolitan City, Raozan and Rangunia and 311 in other places.

BGB has intensified intelligence surveillance and is conducting special patrols in the border areas to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival.
