On the occasion of the July Revolution, a colorful rally was organized yesterday (August 4) by the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC). Participating in the rally were city corporation councilors, residents of various wards, members of social and cultural organizations, and students from local schools and colleges.
The rally began in the morning from the NCC city hall premises and paraded through the main roads of the city, ending at the Central Shaheed Minar. Participants carried banners, festoons, national flags, and placards with various slogans. The event featured cultural performances, chants, and patriotic songs.
The rally was inaugurated by Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator A.H.M. Kamruzzaman. He said, "The July Revolution is a historic event. This day reminds us of the sacrifices and struggles involved in securing democracy. On this day, we once again pledge to uphold democracy and human rights."
Other speakers included city corporation officials, ward councilors, teacher representatives, and youth leaders. They remarked that without political awareness and public participation, democracy cannot be sustained. Therefore, the "July Revolution" is not just a historical date but a symbol of a broader movement.
The city had a festive atmosphere centering around the rally. The traffic department had arranged alternative routes in advance to avoid public inconvenience. The city corporation also arranged for water and healthcare services along the rally route.
It is worth noting that Narayanganj hosts various events every year in remembrance of the "July Revolution." This year’s program featured new elements, including participation from students and street theatre performances by local cultural groups.
