Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 9.86 points or 0.16 per cent to settle at 6,261.03. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 1.66 point to finish at 2,099.21 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.91 points to close at 1,366.71.

At DSE, out of the day's 341 securities, prices of 93 securities closed higher against 68 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 5,218.48 million which was Taka 4,649.27 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were CENTRALPHL, KPPL, STANCERAM, 1STPRIMFMF and ANLIMAYARN. The major losing companies were DELTASPINN, ZAHINTEX, FASFIN, ZAHEENSPIN and ILFSL.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 15.18 points up at 18,563.40.

At the CSE, 191 issues were traded. Of those, 48 closed higher and 44 closed lower when 49.24 lakh shares worth Taka 19.39 crore changed hands.
